HOT August in Houston

To keep myself busy after Roy left, I made our soon-to-be granddaughter a baby quilt. I decided to step outside my comfort zone and try something new rather than my usual all flannel quilt. The center rectangles are super soft minke and the borders flannel. Hopefully she will like it.
Mary and the kids came for a visit the first two weeks in August. As the song said - we did a few of our favorite things:

Zach and Gracie enjoyed getting to know my kittens again. I cannot say the same for the kittens. Between the kids wanting to love them and Mary"s big mastiff Max, they took to hiding out on top of the refrigerator or the kitchen cupboards.
Houston has had record heat this summer and I think it was over 100* every single day this month. If there can be a plus side to this wicked heat, it would be that it has burned off most of the humidity, which is usually horrible this month.
All of Texas is suffering from a horrible drought in fact. You know things are getting desperate when everyone is praying for a hurricane or tropical storm to come our way.
