We venture into the Queensland Rainforest

Last Saturday we had a short "walk-about" in the Beerwah Forest Reserve; about 80 km north of our house here in the Northern suburbs of Brisbane. The eucalyptus trees were huge! Here's another great AU trivia fact: there are over 800 different species of eucalyptus trees here! We had hoped to possibly glimpse a platypus but were not that lucky, probably needed to be there in the early morning. Heard and saw some great birds; a whip bird - the male call sounds just like a whip cracking! and yellow bush robins. Roy was able to see a new bird: the green catbird, which made it a great day. The vine I am swinging on is called a lawyer vine, which we've heard will hold up a car!
